Parenting & Child Assessment Placements

Parenting & Child Assessment Placements usually run for 12-13 weeks. These assessed placements are more structured, closely monitored and may be supported by a range of professionals. Regular meetings are held to discuss strengths and weakness and to plan for the week ahead. The 12 week assessment provides weekly written evidence (e.g. daily records, weekly progress records) of the standard of care provided for the child, the parents own self-care skills and the level of support and guidance provided. These recordings are made available to the LA. Upon admission into the provision Family ACE will also engage you and your family in a two week capability assessment to assist in the identification of your strengths, whist also providing the framework for your follow up work sessions. At end of the placement a comprehensive assessment report detailing the parenting capacity is completed by a Registered social worker in our provision. The assessment report will form part of the decision-making process and may be used as evidence in Court Proceedings as to whether the assessment period is concluded or needs to be extended, what supporting services are required to ensure positive family sustainability.

The Parent Assessment Manual (PAMS)

The Parent Assessment Manual (PAMS) is a type of parenting assessment (12 week assessment) that may be requested from Family ACE. This type of assessment is often used when working with vulnerable families and their children. The PAMS assessment tool is used to assess different aspects of a parents ability to parent a child safety, and has been recognized by courts to be a good standard of parenting assessment which offers a true reflection of identified outcomes.
